By judicious omission of exposition repeats in the already long first and last movements of the Second Sonata, Robert Zimansky and Christoph Keller are able to find space on their disc for Schumann's Third Sonata as well. The performance is immensely spirited, with a very brilliant homecoming. Played like this, no one ever would guess that the music came from a mind on the verge of a breakdown.
